Heavy storms are expected to pass through the region on Friday evening

OMAHA, Nebraska (WOWT) – The likelihood of severe storms in the region tonight has increased significantly over the past 24 to 48 hours, which is why we have declared today the 6th First Alert Weather Day.

Storms will form northwest of the area in the late afternoon and attempt to move southeast into our area after 6 p.m. As they move in, they may intensify, bringing the risk of damaging wind gusts and heavy hail to the area. The greatest risk is in the yellow shaded area, which includes most of our viewers in Nebraska.
