Driver arrested after deputy and police dog find firearm, drug material during traffic stop in Darke County – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

DARKE COUNTY – A driver was arrested after a deputy and a police dog found both a firearm and drugs during a traffic stop in Darke County early Thursday morning.

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded to a traffic violation near the intersection of State Route 49 and Meadow Lane at 2:27 a.m.

There were two people in the vehicle.

During the investigation, criminal evidence was observed and a sniffer dog was used to sniff the vehicle in the open air. The result was positive.

A probable cause search was conducted and a handgun and drug material were seized. The driver also showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody for drunk driving after a breathalyzer test, the sheriff’s office said.

The officer also found suspected cocaine on the driver before taking him to the Darke County Jail.

Michael Bruckner, 60, of Dayton, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and two other offenses, including improper handling of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).

The passenger, Alisha Keith, 37, was released and no charges were filed.
