Man dead after shooting in Parkway Village, police say | News

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), a man is dead after a shooting in Parkway Village.

Police are still investigating the circumstances of the shooting, which occurred around 4 p.m. this afternoon.

“It’s dangerous everywhere, especially here in Memphis,” a community member told me after learning of the shooting that occurred in this Exon on the corner of Getwell and American Way.

When MPD arrived, one person had been shot and was in critical condition.

Kendrick Richmond said it was no longer safe to go to a normal place like a gas station.

“So we have to be aware of our surroundings when we go out here. Get out. Do what you have to do, and do it quickly. Get back in, lock your doors and go home,” Richmond said.

Memphis police later confirmed the victim’s death.

And now the MPD has arrested three people.

Richmond said the shootings were a reminder to remain vigilant.

“I don’t think it’s just this part of town or a specific part of town or any part of town. There’s crime everywhere in Memphis. You just have to be aware of your surroundings,” Richmond said.
