Man dies after being thrown from his car in Fresno County

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man has died in Fresno County after he collided with several trees and was thrown from his vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said.

At approximately 11:40 a.m. Thursday, the CHP Communications Center received a call about a car crash near Shaw Avenue, west of Chateau Fresno in Fresno County. CHP officers and emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene.

According to the CHP, preliminary investigations indicate that a 63-year-old man was driving a Ford Mustang eastbound on Shaw Avenue. The driver caused the Mustang to leave the roadway and onto the south shoulder, where it struck a eucalyptus tree.

According to investigators, the collision caused the Mustang to roll over several times as it traveled east and hit more trees. The driver was thrown out during the collision and lay on the ground south of the road near the Mustang. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

According to police, it is not known whether alcohol and/or drugs played a role in this accident.

This is an ongoing investigation.
