Ernestine Jones identified as pedestrian fatally struck by car on Freeway 60 in Moreno Valley

MORENO VALLEY, CA (June 6, 2024) – Authorities identified 22-year-old Ernestine Jones when the pedestrian was fatally struck by a car on Freeway 60 early Thursday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. on June 6. For reasons still under investigation, Jones began walking in the westbound lanes of the highway. A short time later, she was struck by a Toyota Corolla near Perris Boulevard and Indian Street.

Rescue workers confirmed the victim’s death at the scene of the accident.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle stopped immediately and called for help. Authorities did not release the name of the Toyota driver.

To facilitate the investigation, emergency crews had to close the westbound 60 Freeway for nearly two hours.
