Palm Bay Police welcome new Wellness Coordinator Ashley Harrell to the department

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department welcomed new Wellness Coordinator Ashley Harrell, MA., MCAP, to its team.

Harrell is a certified clinician with extensive knowledge in the areas of mental, emotional and physical wellness.

She is a certified Master’s Degree Addiction Therapist, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Florida, and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling from Liberty University. She is also a doctoral candidate at Liberty University with a concentration in Traumatology.

Harrell will lead the health program established to ensure the well-being of officers through various preventive measures and supportive services.

“In honor of PTSD Awareness Month, we reaffirm our commitment to the mental health and well-being of our officers and our community,” a Palm Bay Police spokesperson said.

“The demanding demands of police work can place a strain on anyone, including family, friends and the community they serve. Ashley will provide the essential tools for holistic whole-person wellness and help our officers mitigate the effects of chronic stress, effectively process critical incidents and reduce the incidence and severity of post-traumatic stress disorder.”

She will oversee the Critical Incident Stress Management and Peer Support teams.

“The Palm Bay Police Department places a high priority on mental health and well-being to ensure our team remains strong, resilient and can better serve and protect our community,” a Palm Bay Police Department spokesperson said.
