Shooting in a West Sacramento home claims a woman’s life, police say

A man is accused of shooting a woman Wednesday night, West Sacramento police said. A juvenile told officers that a woman was shot by her boyfriend at a home on the corner of Bridge Place and Touchstone Place around 10 p.m., police said. As officers approached the home, a man walked outside. Police said after they arrested the man, they went into the garage and found the woman, who had a gunshot wound to her upper back. Officers attempted to treat her until medical personnel arrived, and she was taken to a hospital, where she later died. The man also had a gunshot wound to his left foot, but police have not released details about whether he inflicted the wound on himself or caused it during a struggle between him and the woman. Officers also found a firearm hidden in a nearby bush, police said. The man was medically evaluated and taken to the Yolo County Jail, police said. They identified him as Demond Jones. The identity of the woman has not been released. The relationship between the juvenile and the two people shot is also unknown. A juvenile reported to officers that a woman had been shot by her boyfriend in a house on the corner of Bridge Place and Touchstone Place around 10 p.m., police said. As officers approached the house, a man came out.

Police said after officers arrested the man, they went into the garage and found the woman, who had a gunshot wound to her upper back. Officers attempted to treat her until medical personnel arrived, and she was taken to a hospital where she later died.

The man also had a gunshot wound to his left foot, but police did not provide details about whether the wound was self-inflicted or occurred during a struggle between him and the woman.
