First responders suspend search at Grand River overnight

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan (WOOD) – Police say rescue crews suspended their search for a missing person in the Grand River Thursday evening.

At around 9 p.m., search and rescue boats were seen on the river on the north side of Riverside Park. Grand Rapids police said they were searching for a missing person in the river.


The Grand Rapids Fire Department and a GRPD crime scene investigation vehicle were on scene. Crews are expected to continue the search Friday morning.

It is unclear who the person being sought is and how he or she might have ended up in the water.
