Man pleads guilty to leaving the scene of an accident

A man pleaded guilty in federal court to hitting a volunteer firefighter and then fleeing the scene of the accident.

Brian Tate pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident.

He collided head-on with the vehicle of Matt Laffoon, the deputy chief of the Olive Fire.

Laffoon was busy fighting a forest fire near Shamrock at the time.

Tate ran away and left his girlfriend in the car.

Laffoon is still recovering from his injuries.
