Atlanta Braves News: Tyler Matzek on IL, Jarred Kelenic’s home run, more

The Atlanta Brave made an unfortunate move Tuesday by placing left-hander Tyler Matzek on the 15-day injured list with elbow inflammation. The move is retroactive to May 5, and Matzek first broke the news to Brian Snitker on Monday, his day off.

To fill Matzek’s spot, the Braves recalled left-hander Ray Kerr from Triple-A Gwinnett, where he appeared in nine games. He pitched 14 frames and posted a 4.50 ERA.

This is the second major blow to the bullpen this week, as Pierce Johnson landed on the injured list over the weekend.
