State police arrest suspect in triple homicide on I-86 in Steuben County

On June 6, 2024, at approximately 5:37 p.m., SP Amity Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a 2009 Honda Civic suspected of being involved in a triple homicide in Virginia. The suspect vehicle failed to comply, so a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued to Troop E, where the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office assisted the New York State Police. A tire deflation device was used, causing the vehicle to crash. The suspect, Alyssa J. Venable, age 23, of Spotsylvania, Virginia, was taken into custody. The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office was seeking Venable for three counts of premeditated murder and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Venable was transported by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The New York State Police will be obtaining a warrant for Venable’s arrest, and extradition will be arranged shortly.
