Israel’s war against Gaza live: Hospital can barely cope with dead and injured | News on the Israel-Palestine conflict

Former US Congressman Justin Amash has released photos that he says show the devastation in his cousin’s neighborhood in the Gaza Strip.

Amash, who represented a Michigan district from 2011 to 2021 and was the second Palestinian American elected to Congress, said his cousin sent him the pictures after months of no communication.

“He sent me photos from his neighborhood in the Old City, where a large part of the Christian community lives. Their lives have been destroyed by the (Israeli military) attack. The people here are descendants of Canaanites and Israelites and they are determined not to be driven out of their ancestral homeland, but they live every day in fear that it could be their last,” Amash said in a social media post.

“Please continue to pray for the people of Gaza, the West Bank and Israel. May the death and destruction, violence and hostage-taking end. May they all live together in peace,” he said.

Amash was elected as a Republican before leaving the party to become an independent and then a member of the Libertarian Party.
