DPS seeks suspect in hit-and-run accident in Palmview

PALMVIEW, Texas (ValleyCentral) – The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a man in critical condition.

DPS officials said the crash occurred around 7:40 p.m. Monday on La Homa Road north of 2 Mile Line Road north of Palmview in Hidalgo County.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a Chevrolet Sonic was traveling north on La Homa Road when he stopped and got out of his vehicle to get a can of water from the back seat, a news release said.

According to DPS, this happened when a northbound driver of an older, tan Chevrolet pickup truck struck the driver of the car with the right front of the truck and fled the scene.

The victim was taken to McAllen Medical Center where his condition remains critical.

Police are asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspect in the Chevy pickup to call the Weslaco DPS Office at (956) 565-7600.
