Fresno Police Chief Paco Balderrama is being investigated for “inappropriate off-duty relationship”

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) – Fresno Police Chief Paco Balderamma has been investigated after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship off-duty.

In a statement sent Thursday, the city of Fresno said the affair allegedly occurred with a person who was not employed by the city.

The city’s statement added that Balderrama informed Mayor Jerry Dyer and City Manager Georgeanne White that the allegations were being made against him.

The city’s public prosecutor has appointed an independent investigator to investigate the allegations.

The city’s statement said the investigation is in the review process.

The city said Balderrama will remain on duty during the trial and will continue to serve as police chief.

Balderrama was sworn in as the city’s 23rd police chief in 2021.

Balderrama worked for the Oklahoma City Police Department for more than 20 years before coming to Fresno.
