First Alert Action Day: Extreme heat continues until Friday

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY-TV) – Due to higher temperatures that could increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, a First Alert ACTION Day has been established.

Due to the high pressure system, temperatures for the rest of the week will be the highest this year, bringing above-average and near-record levels.

A Warning of excessive heat is now in effect for Yuma County and parts of Imperial County until 8 p.m. Friday.

Due to the high temperatures, there are also concerns about air quality; an Air Quality Warning is in effect for parts of Imperial County until 8:00 p.m. tonight due to high ozone levels (smog).

I am observing that there will be increasing cloud cover, windier conditions and a slight relative cooling of temperatures through the weekend.
