Dad from Birmingham is in a coma after a horrific accident while on holiday in Turkey

A Birmingham father was fighting for his life in hospital in Turkey today after suffering a horrific accident hours after his family flew on holiday. Marlon McCormack’s distraught relatives need to raise £24,000 for life-saving treatment after the 51-year-old from Chelmsley Wood woke up this morning, April 25, with “numbness on one side of his body” after falling while using one Resort gym.

The forklift driver suffered a brain haemorrhage and required surgery when his condition improved. His fiancée Anna Ryan, 41, has already paid £3,000 for his emergency care but needs the £24,000 for further treatment. You don’t have travel insurance.

The couple and Marlon’s two children arrived in Turkey just yesterday, Wednesday April 24, for a “last minute” holiday. Anna said the family needed as much help as she could get urgent request for support .

“We arrived in Turkey yesterday,” Anna told BirminghamLive. “I slept in this morning and Marlon got up early to go to the gym. He came back and said he fell there.

“He fell asleep again and when he woke up he couldn’t stand – it looked like he had had a stroke. We called an ambulance and he was taken to hospital.”

Anna said she couldn’t afford the £3,000 she had already paid for Marlon’s emergency care. After contacting the British embassy, she was told that his operation would be carried out without paying £24,000, but that the money would have to be raised in the coming weeks.

She said: “I’m being asked to pay a lot of money that I don’t have. They want £24,000 for the operation and then four weeks of recovery, which we would also have to fund.

“We don’t have that much money – I don’t know what to do. Nothing like this has ever happened to me. We need as much help as we can get.”
