4 arrests after police stop stolen SUV in East Providence

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A vehicle reported stolen was recovered after police caught the suspects in East Providence.

Captain Michael Rapoza told 12 News it started when a police officer tried to stop the stolen SUV. Instead, the driver took off and continued driving “recklessly and without regard for public safety,” Rapoza said.

The suspect drove through the parking lot of the Mobil gas station at the intersection of Pawtucket Avenue and Warren Avenue and then collided with a patrol car, causing minor damage.

Rapoza said the four people in the vehicle were arrested without incident. Their names have not yet been released, but Rapoza said they face several charges.
