Busch Gardens employee arrested for sexual misconduct with minors: HCSO

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A man accused of sexually abusing a minor was arrested by police Wednesday.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said officers were notified that 34-year-old Douglas McGee gave the 8-year-old victim a cell phone and sent him inappropriate messages. The incident was reported to officers by the victim’s brother, who employed McGee as a supervisor at Busch Gardens.

Deputies said McGee admitted to several crimes, including sexual assault. A warrant was issued for his arrest on June 5 and he was taken into custody without incident.

“Abusing an innocent child and taking advantage of their vulnerability is deeply disturbing. I have my sincere sympathy for this child who was the victim of such a despicable human being,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister.

At the time of the incident and arrest, McGee was working part-time as a Park Quality Supervisor in Stanleyville at Busch Gardens. He has been employed at the park since December 2021.

Anyone with information about the case or who believes they may have been a victim of McGee should contact the HCSO at 813-247-8200.
