Recall alert: Honda Fit, HR-V

Honda has issued a recall for 114,686 cars because their rearview cameras may not display an image when the vehicle is started with a key.

The models affected include:

Honda tells government safety regulators that starting the vehicle with the key causes the starter motor to crank harder, which can lower the battery charge level enough to prevent the display screen from activating.

While the company is not aware of any accidents or injuries, it has received at least 92 warranty claims related to the issue.

The dealer will install a software update with a new boot procedure for the screen, which should fix the problem.

Recall repairs are always free.
