1 person in custody after 3 people found dead in rural Linn County

LINN COUNTY, IOWA — A Marion man is in custody, charged with attempted murder, while authorities are still investigating a crime scene in rural Linn County where three people were found dead Tuesday. Luke Truesdell, 34, is being held without bail in the Linn County Jail. He faces one count of attempted murder, but other charges are pending.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office was called to 3699 East Otter Road on Wednesday for reports of multiple injuries, according to a news release. When officers arrived, they found four people with “serious injuries.” Three victims were pronounced dead at the scene, and a fourth was airlifted from the scene with life-threatening injuries. The names of the victims were not released.


Authorities have taken 34-year-old Luke Truesdell of Marion into custody and charged him with attempted murder. Additional charges are pending against Truesdell, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities have not released details about how the victims were killed. The investigation is ongoing.
