Robbery of Cape Cod Cooperative Bank in Sandwich under investigation

SANDWICH, MA — Police in Sandwich are investigating a bank robbery at a local branch of the Cape Cod Cooperative Bank.

At around 4 p.m., officers responded to a panic alarm from the Cape Cod Cooperative Bank.

A man described as white, believed to be 5’3″ to 5’7″ tall and of a stocky build, allegedly entered the bank and demanded money from one of the tellers. Police said no weapon was displayed and the suspect’s face was covered.

The cashier followed the suspect’s instructions and then fled the bank on foot.

There were no customers in the bank at the time of the robbery and none of the bank employees were injured.

The investigation is being conducted by members of the Sandwich Police Department, with assistance from the Mashpee Police Department and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office.
