Murder suspect found dead of apparent suicide

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A Colorado resident suspected of murder was found dead Tuesday after eluding law enforcement in Albany County and Laramie County.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a person from Weld County, Colorado, suspected of murder had entered the county after fleeing Laramie County officers and was possibly armed and dangerous. At this time, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, Laramie Police Department, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Laramie County Fire Department and Laramie County Sheriff’s Office were responding to the Happy Jack area near FS Road 701.

Initial information suggests the suspect was hiding in a rock formation on Happy Jack Road and was eventually found using drone footage in the area. However, the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene after apparently taking his own life.

The Albany County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that more information will be shared as it becomes available.
