5 Nightmare Scenarios for the Buffalo Bills in 2024

Many teams face bad luck in the NFL at some point. Sometimes teams face more bad luck than others. When it comes to the Buffalo Bills, a curse seems to be hitting them at crucial moments that end their season. As of 2019, the Bills are one of the best teams in the NFL and have won four straight division titles. Every season, the Bills seem to find themselves in stretches where they play like the best team in the league, but then come back down to Earth by underplaying their competition.

Although Buffalo had some good times, they also faced their own bad luck that broke the hearts of Bills Mafia. Heading into 2024, the Bills have a lot going against them after significant losses last offseason. They have to hope that these five nightmare scenarios don’t happen to them.

Throughout last year’s season, the Bills suffered a large number of injuries on defense leading up to the playoffs. In Week 4, cornerback Tre’Davious White went down with a torn Achilles that ended his tenure with the Bills. Then the following week in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars, DaQuan Jones and Matt Milano both suffered injuries that sidelined Jones until the end of the regular season and Milano for the entire season. In the playoffs, the Bills would lose linebacker Terrel Bernard, who had greatly stepped up in 2023, for the divisional round against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Buffalo has shown that the “next man up” mentality can work and that there is an advantage to having a defensive-minded head coach. At the same time, the Bills can’t afford any more serious injuries on defense in 2024.
