13-year-old girl gang-raped in Jashpur; 2 arrested, 4 minors detained – Telangana Today

Jashpur: Six people, including four minors, were arrested for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in Jashpur in Chhattisgarh, a police official said on Thursday.

The incident occurred on June 4 within the Sanna police station premises when the teenager was returning home at night after attending a wedding, said Superintendent of Police Shashimohan Singh.

“The victim’s father lodged a complaint on Wednesday following which an FIR was registered. According to the complaint, the girl was stopped by accused Manoj Kumar (24) and two minor boys. She tried to escape but they dragged her to a forest area and raped her. Three more persons, including accused Praveen Painkre (21) and two minors, came there and raped her,” the SP said.

She came home in the early hours of Wednesday morning and told her parents about the ordeal, who then contacted the police, he said.

“Three special teams were deployed and all the accused were arrested by Thursday morning. Kumar and Painkra were arrested and the four minors aged 16-17 years were detained. Further investigation into the crime is on,” the SP said.
