First level weather warning: Excessive heat until Friday

The extreme heat warning remains in effect until 8pm tomorrow, so heat protocols are still in effect!

We continue to remind people to take precautions to protect themselves and their families during this heatwave.

Highs this afternoon will again reach 110 (yesterday we reached 107). If you plan on attending VillageFest or other outdoor activities, please note that it will be warm into the evening hours as well.

With the heat comes some humidity as the high pressure brings some moisture from the coast. Therefore, our dew points will remain elevated today and the efficiency of evaporative coolers will be affected.

Temperatures will begin to drop tomorrow, but the heat warning will remain in effect until Friday evening.
