25-year-old woman arrested for arson in Bergen County: prosecutor

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 25-year-old Passaic woman was arrested for setting a fire in Garfield and failing to put it out, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Allison G. Gutierrez-Tuesta of Passaic was charged with aggravated arson, arson, endangering the life of another person and failure to report a fire, the Bergen County District Attorney’s Office said.

The District Attorney’s Office said Garfield Police and Fire Departments were called to a fire at 89 Passaic St., Apartment 2, in Garfield at approximately 10:35 a.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024.

An investigation revealed that Gutierrez-Tuesta “intentionally set fire to the residence in two separate locations and then fled the area without notifying authorities of the fire,” prosecutors said.

She was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await her initial appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
