Israel attacks UN school in central Gaza, killing 37 people | News on the Israel-Palestine conflict

An Israeli airstrike on a UN-run school housing displaced Palestinians in the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza killed at least 37 people, mostly women and children, according to local health authorities.

Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir el-Balah received the 37 bodies, it said.

Thursday’s attack came after the military announced a new ground and air strike on several refugee camps in central Gaza.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that thousands of displaced Palestinians sought shelter at the Al-Sardi school when it was attacked. The school is affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

The Palestinian Hamas group, which governs the Gaza Strip, condemned the dawn attack as a “horrific massacre.”
