Missing city woman reportedly found dead | News, Sports, Jobs

Amber Harrington

The search for a Jamestown woman has reportedly ended.

Amber Harrington had been missing since January. Harrington was found dead late Tuesday night, according to a Facebook post by Merry Williams-Diers. Williams-Diers, the woman behind WNY Missing and Unidentified Persons, had organized the search for Harrington in Jamestown.

“Our prayers continue to be with her family and friends as they mourn the loss of such a young and beautiful life that ended far too soon,” Williams-Diers wrote. “Rest in peace, Amber. A very special thank you to my selfless community volunteers who spent countless hours helping to search for Amber. Our only regret is that we did not find her as we all hoped and prayed for.”

Jamestown police officials could not be reached for comment Wednesday. Jamestown police had been helping to search for Harrington and sent out a public service announcement in April, but family members organized a GoFundMe campaign Wednesday to help pay for Harrington’s funeral arrangements.

“I am raising funds to help cover the cost of cremation and burial for my niece Amber Harrington,” Kristine Edwards wrote on the GoFundMe page. “She was 23 when she disappeared and 24 when she was found. Amber was a giver, she would give the shirt off her back if it would help someone. That was her nature. Amber disappeared in January, her family searched for her and could not find her. Yesterday her remains were found. Today we were confirmed they are Amber’s remains. Amber also has a 4 year old daughter who will never see her mother, we will only have pictures of her to share. Amber lost her mother (my sister) in 2020. Since then Amber has not been the same. Now she is back with her mother. We believe she deserves a proper send off.”
