Three Dayton-area men were arrested this week for possession of over a pound of meth and several grams of fentanyl.

Officers from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota Corolla with Texas plates in Devola on Monday near the intersection of Glendale Road and State Route 821 for a traffic violation at the Interstate 77 exit ramp. They discovered just over a pound (457.84 grams) of methamphetamine and 57.70 grams of suspected fentanyl, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

According to the release, officers approached the vehicle and questioned the three men inside about their travels. They learned from the driver, William Lamarr Lawson, 32, of Dayton, Ohio, that the men were traveling from Dayton to Cleveland and must have made a wrong turn. The release states that during the conversation, the men denied having any illegal items in the vehicle, at which point a police dog was deployed, which sniffed freely in the air and pointed to the passenger side of the vehicle.

Officers removed the men from the vehicle and searched it. They discovered a large bag of suspected methamphetamine on the rear floor and a cellophane bag in the front passenger area that appeared to contain fentanyl, the press release said.

During their investigation, officers arrested Lawon, Anthony Duan Downey Jr., 27, of Dayton, Ohio, and KeAngelis Dai’Trell Render, 26, of Trotwood, Ohio, the press release said.
