Potentially strong storms will develop this afternoon and evening

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – There are two initial weather alert days on Wednesday and Thursday due to the possibility of strong thunderstorms.

Wednesday will start off warm and will be partly sunny for the first part of the day before potential storms flare up in the afternoon and evening hours. Highs will range from the upper 80s to lower 90s. The storms could potentially be severe.

Thursday will start off wet, with the possibility of further early morning storms and widespread rain. After that, isolated storms could develop during the afternoon. Maximum temperatures will peak in the mid-80s. Windy conditions are expected.

Things will start to change on Friday as the temperature drops into the upper 70s under partly cloudy skies. There is a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms late in the day.

The weather will be much more pleasant by the weekend, with highs in the mid to upper 70s and plenty of sunshine both days. Against this background, the forecast for Mother’s Day looks good.

Next week will start off mostly dry and slightly cooler with temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
