The Larimer County Coroner’s Office has identified 20-year-old Ciara Byrne as the woman who died in a rafting accident on the Cache la Poudre River last week.

Byrne, a Fort Collins resident, drowned in the accident, the press release said.

Last Thursday at 12:55 p.m., the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Operations Center received multiple emergency calls and a 911 call was initiated that led to the Greyrock Trailhead on Colorado 14, according to a previous release from the sheriff’s office.

Rescuers learned that an accident had occurred involving a group from a local rafting company. An adult female was injured when the raft struck a bridge pier, the release said. Byrne was being resuscitated on the river bank when rescuers arrived. All other members of the rafting group were already out of the river and uninjured.

An ambulance took Byrne to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, the press release said.
