Oakland police looking for suspect in sexual assault

OAKLAND – A 31-year-old man is wanted by police for sexually assaulting two women within two days in East Oakland, authorities said Wednesday.

Police identified the suspect as Santieago Platt of Oakland. They also released a photo of him to the media in hopes of locating him.

According to police, one of the victims was a 33-year-old woman who was sexually assaulted in the 2000 block of 85th Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. on May 27.

The other victim was a 37-year-old woman who was abducted and sexually assaulted in the 1700 block of 40th Avenue just before 6:15 a.m. on May 28. The woman was later found.

Both attacks occurred primarily in residential areas.

Police said the suspect may have known the 33-year-old victim. What connection he had to the second attack was not disclosed.
