According to the National Weather Service, a large tornado was spotted in Poolesville, Maryland, and poses a “significant threat” due to the storm Wednesday evening. Local storm chasers captured the tornado on their cameras. The footage shows a huge twister passing near a golf course in Montgomery County. The tornado is expected to reach Germantown and Towson.

“Tornado near Poolesville Golf Course,” a local resident named Alex Taylor shared footage of the tornado sighted in Montgomery County on X (formerly Twitter).

Meanwhile, the NWS has issued a detailed weather advisory, including a tornado warning from its office in Sterling, Virginia. Residents of west-central Montgomery County, Maryland, were warned of possible tornadoes in the area until 7:45 p.m. EDT.
