1 dead after accident on Highway 78 in Aiken County

WINDSOR, SC (WRDW/WAGT) – One person died in a crash on Highway 78 at Clippership Loop in Windsor Wednesday afternoon.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 1:41 p.m.

According to police, a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling east on Highway 78 while a 2013 Ford Escape was traveling west on Highway 78.

According to police, the driver of the Ford Escape then collided with the driver of the Chevrolet Malibu.

The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu died of his injuries at the scene, officials say. The driver of the Ford Escape was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office has not released the victim’s name.
