A former Boston College High School teacher and Jesuit priest has been indicted by a Suffolk County grand jury on charges of raping a student between 2008 and 2009, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced Wednesday.

“All teachers and all religious officials are persons of authority and have a professional and moral obligation to always exercise that authority properly and appropriately,” Hayden said. “Our office will provide ongoing support to this former student as this case progresses.”

Kevin White, 62, of Weston, is charged with rape and child molestation. The charges were filed Friday, prosecutors said in a news release. White was a theology teacher at Boston College High School.

White lived outside Massachusetts from 2010 to 2021, the press release said.

Prosecutors held back on Wednesday, saying more information would come to light when White was arraigned.
