Police investigate former TV news chief Bill Lunn

“The investigation is based on the computer-assisted recruitment of minors, but so far no arrests have been made,” our partners reported.

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana – Former KTBS news director and anchor Bill Lunn is being investigated by Shreveport police for attempting to solicit a minor for sexual purposes over the Internet, according to the Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate.

The investigation began after Lunn allegedly chatted with an online profile that appeared to belong to an underage girl. However, the profile was created by a group of young men who wanted to catch “potential child molesters,” our partners reported.

Shreveport police said the incident occurred around 11 a.m. on May 29, when Lunn allegedly went to a home in the area but instead met the young men behind the fake online profile.

According to the Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate, Lunn then called police and said he had been attacked.

Officials then filed a complaint on site.

“The basis of the investigation is the computer-assisted recruitment of minors, but so far no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing,” the department said.

The SPD said it was unaware of the young men’s efforts and found no evidence that they had attacked Lunn or broken the law, our partners reported.

Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate received a statement from Lunn’s attorney. Read the full statement below:

“Our preliminary understanding is that this incident was not the result of a law enforcement investigation, but was conducted by private individuals. Our primary concern at this time is for law enforcement to receive all evidence related to this incident so that they can conduct a thorough and complete investigation. Mr. Lunn has cooperated with authorities and vehemently denies all allegations of wrongdoing. We hope that after a thorough investigation of all evidence related to this case, it will be determined that Mr. Lunn is innocent and will be acquitted of these charges.”
