Police say elderly couple died after car crash in Bullitt County

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – An elderly couple was killed in a car crash in Bullitt County Wednesday afternoon.

Hillview police said it happened before 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Old Preston Highway.

Police Chief Bill Mahoney said witnesses told them the traffic light at the intersection was flashing red, meaning it must have been an intersection with four stop signs.

Mahoney said a car ran a red light and hit another car at the intersection. He said they could not say who ran the red light.

Another driver involved is expected to survive.

Police officials are urging the public to avoid the area as all lanes of Preston Highway, from Phillips Lane to Hart Avenue, will be closed.
