CHARLOTTE, NC (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Postal workers in Charlotte have to fend off dogs too often.

Mail carriers are facing an increasing number of dog attacks. Last year, there were 185 dog bites in North Carolina.

And Charlotte, the state’s most populous city, also ranks first in the number of attacks.

Postal officials say one attack is too many and are urging people to watch their dogs while delivering mail.

Carriers are trained to ensure they know how to respond to dogs, but they say the responsibility for keeping their dogs out of the way ultimately lies with dog owners.
