VIDEO: 21-year-old man accused of street racing leads APD on chase – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA — Street racers were caught on video “laying down a drag” at an intersection in Atlanta.

Several street racers rode recklessly along the Metropolitan Parkway in southwest Atlanta on May 27, according to Atlanta police.

As officers entered the parking lot, several vehicles left.

Dash camera video and aerial footage show the moment officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Jeep Grand Cherokee with an exit tag.

The driver, Willie Wilson, 21, allegedly ran several lights and nearly crashed into APD patrol vehicles while trying to elude police.

Police said Wilson then turned off the Jeep’s headlights, known as a “blackout,” before speeding down the highway.

After several minutes, Wilson pulled over to the side of the highway, jumped out of the vehicle and ran away.

Authorities said there were other passengers in the Jeep, but after a thorough investigation, they were released.

Wilson was arrested and charged with fleeing police, no driver’s license and reckless driving. He was booked into the Atlanta City Jail.
