Mashpee, MA teen missing after high school brawl; second teen charged – NBC Boston

An underage girl who had been missing for days and was recently the victim of a robbery at her high school has been found safe, police in Mashpee, Massachusetts, said Wednesday afternoon.

Aliyah Konton, 15, was last seen Sunday in the Cape Drive Mashpee area of ​​Cape Cod. Authorities had said she was at risk and indicated that state, federal and local authorities were urgently searching for her.

Mashpee police said in a video posted to their Facebook account around 4:42 p.m. Wednesday that they were pleased to announce that the teenager had been found safe and sound in Barnstable and thanked all police officers who assisted in the investigation.

Police also thanked the Mashpee community for their tips, interest and support.

“The City of Mashpee has rallied for one of their own and I am once again pleased to report that she has been found safe and sound,” police said.

The fight, which police announced Wednesday, involved two Mashpee High School students, police said. Police began investigating on Saturday, May 25, and a 13-year-old girl, whose identity has not yet been released, is now facing seven counts of assault in the Juvenile Division of Falmouth District Court.

A video of the alleged attack was shared on Snapchat, police said.

The girl who was attacked in the fight – police did not disclose when it occurred – was reported missing on Sunday and was “the focus of an intensive manhunt involving numerous local, state and federal resources,” Mashpee Police Chief Scott Carline said in a statement, without naming the victim.

Mashpee police said Monday that Konton disappeared from her home on June 2.

“Our highest priority at this time is the safe return of this missing juvenile,” Carline said at the time. “We recognize that this series of events has generated great concern and public attention, and we continue to utilize all available resources to safely bring this case to a successful resolution under the juvenile laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.”

He added that police were following up on “several leads” in their efforts to return the missing girl on Wednesday.
