Three York County cousins arrested after FBI investigation into Jan. 6 riots

Federal authorities arrested three York County men last week for their alleged involvement in the riots at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

WASHINGTON, DC, USA — Federal authorities arrested three cousins in York on May 30 for their alleged involvement in the riots at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Investigators charged Tyler Henson, Stephen Oseen and Jamie Charlesworth, who were seen on surveillance footage from the U.S. Capitol, with entering or remaining in a restricted building, disorderly conduct and protesting in front of the Capitol.

It has been more than three years since rioters broke into the U.S. Capitol and disrupted the certification of Joe Biden’s presidential victory in 2020.

Federal investigators are still bringing charges against people possibly involved in the incident, a fact that does not surprise former federal judge John E. Jones.

“This is a typical, wide-ranging FBI investigation,” said Jones, who is now president of Dickinson College in Carlisle. “Every inch of the Capitol grounds is on camera. So they’re enhancing these videos and watching people. There are protesters who are obviously talking about people who were there while pleading guilty or cooperating with the government.”

According to court documents, a few weeks after the Capitol riots, investigators received a tip about a video posted on Henson’s Facebook page showing him in a large crowd near the entrance to the Capitol.

Authorities say Henson was also seen on bodycam footage outside the Capitol before surveillance footage shows him entering the building through a window near the Senate wing doors.

In an August 2021 interview, Henson allegedly admitted to investigators that he traveled to Washington, DC with his cousins Oseen and Charlesworth on January 6.

Charlesworth is accused of entering through the doors of the Senate wing. Oseen is accused of entering through the nearby window.

According to investigators, Charlesworth was also spotted on surveillance video from inside the Capitol crypt.

The three are shown leaving the building one by one and less than an hour later, when Capitol Police backup arrived, they were all already outside.

They are not accused of cooperating with the police.

Jones said they would appear in court.

“The idea that the federal government is targeting people who broke doors and windows and stormed the Capitol and were trespassers and worse, and that people died in that insurrection, amazes me. That’s just nonsense,” he said. “These defendants will be given a full trial, every right they are entitled to under the Constitution.”

Jones said they likely wouldn’t be the last to face charges.

“Maybe they’ll find you at some point, even if you haven’t been charged yet,” he said. “I think the investigation will definitely continue.”

The three men were released under supervision after their arrest.

All are scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Washington, DC.
