Atlanta Public Schools will resume summer programs Thursday

Atlanta Public Schools announced Wednesday afternoon that summer programs will fully resume Thursday after being closed earlier this week due to disruptions to the city’s water service.

The district said additional staff would be assigned to schools affected by the boil water advisory and bottled water would be provided.

“Please encourage your children to only drink bottled water and to contact school staff if they need water or hand sanitizer,” the statement said.

This announcement comes after summer programs were canceled over the past three days due to several water main breaks in the city. Although some schools were open Wednesday, a handful remained closed.

The cancellations have left some parents frustrated and forced to make other plans. Some parents even request refunds for paid programs.
