Former Westover elected official charged with domestic violence – WAJR

WESTOVER, West Virginia.. – A former Westover city councilman is facing domestic violence and assault charges following an incident reported Sunday evening.

Westover officials said a woman filed the report at the police station around 6:50 p.m. Sunday and wanted to press charges against her husband, 58-year-old Ralph Mullins.

His wife told police that during an argument, Mullins knocked over a treadmill she was on and held her down. The woman also told police that Mullins threatened her with a ten-pound weight.

Police found an injury to her left elbow.

His wife also told police that Mullins told her several times during the argument that he would “blow her head off.”

In a statement to the Dominion Post, Mullins’ attorney Ryan Umina said he “vehemently denies the allegations” and said they were inaccurate, misrepresented and the result of a marital problem between a man and a woman that had been exaggerated.

Mullins was charged with domestic violence and domestic assault.

He was released on $5,000 bail.
