NFL veteran eviscerates Buffalo Bills for signing Olympic wrestler

Olympic wrestler and former WWE pro Gable Steveson recently signed with the Buffalo Bills like a offensive lineman. Ancient NFL offensive lineman Ramon Foster finds it ridiculous.

The 11-year veteran doesn’t think Steveson has any chance of making the league.

To be fair, Foster may be right. Steveson, who won a gold medal for the United States in Tokyo, laced up cleats for the first time during his trials in upstate New York. He never downplayed football.

On the other hand, what does Buffalo have to lose? The former Minnesota Golden Gopher stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 265 pounds of muscle. He knows how to use his leverage.

Gable Steveson is also agile and athletic enough to perform a backflip which, considering his size, is impressive.

As a new 24-year-old, there is very little downside to the Bills’ decision to try to teach him the ropes. They’ll pay him a marginal amount to make the practice squad, if he even makes it that far.

Why not?

Foster disagrees with the Gable bet and made that clear during an appearance on 104-5 The Zone. Having played more than a decade as a guard with/for the Pittsburgh Steelers, he doesn’t expect the wrestler to realize that.

The hate. I hate all that. No, you were professional in another sport. The hate. And I’m not angry with him. I just call myself a hater because I hate it. You can’t just show up to go work out and think you can do it.

Now, the wrestlers play a big role in all of this. I know for sure that Pittsburgh’s rookie last year, Keannu Benton was a wrestler, okay? In the draft this year, Zach Frazier was a (high school) wrestler. Wrestling is an interesting part of football.

It being understood that the wrestlers who I also played football have had success in college and the NFL, Foster doesn’t think just wrestling experience is enough. Gable Steveson, in his eyes, is not qualified enough for a roster spot.

This guy is trying to come here and play football, I hope they line him up nine against seven. You hear me? Put it on Dawkins, Dion Dawkins, and let him do what he wants with him.

I’m tired of these people just trying to come out here and think, “oh because I’m physical, I’m strong, I can move well in the fast space, I can play in the NFL.” » No, boo this man.

-Ramon Foster

Foster didn’t hold back. He torched Buffalo for taking action and thinks Steveson is in for a rude awakening.

You want to come here and play football, and besides, you don’t have your little leotard anymore. You have towels. You have to wear crampons. We don’t have slippery little shoes on the soft carpet. We don’t have any of that!

And guess what?

You actually have to run towards the game, you actually have to be aggressive enough to know that we’re going to trap you. I can’t wait to do a play about a guy like that. Hook him up with a fake guy, “oh, guess what? This is my right guard. Welcome to the show.”

-Ramon Foster

To make the signing even more questionable, Gable Steveson was arrested on suspicion of criminal sexual conduct in 2019. The charges were dropped later that same year due to “insufficient evidence.”

Ramon Foster didn’t like finding out about the allegations.

Get him out of here. No way he’s making the damn list.

-Ramon Foster

Steveson will soon have the opportunity to prove the former Steelers starter right or wrong. The Bills are going to let him try to figure out this whole football thing before closing the door on the idea.

Foster clearly wishes they wouldn’t!
