South Florida teenager arrested after shooting in Tradition parking garage

Martin County officials arrested a 17-year-old from Palm Bay on Monday in connection with a shooting in Port St. Lucie that left a 16-year-old injured. The shooting occurred May 24 at the Tradition Parking Garage on Southwest Stephanie Way. When Port St. Lucie police arrived on the scene, they saw no witnesses, victims or evidence of the shooting. During their investigation, detectives found video showing a group of minors fighting on the roof of the parking garage. According to police, video shows the suspect jumping away from the fighting crowd, extending his right arm and grabbing something, and then a gunshot is heard. The victim was also seen in the group.Several hours after the shooting, the 16-year-old victim entered Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce with a gunshot wound to his foot. Detectives from PSLPD’s Major Crimes Unit arrived and determined the victim had been shot during the brawl.Police say the firearm used has not been found.The suspect was arrested in October 2022 after a concealed firearm was found on him at Treasure Coast High School.The teen is currently being held at the St. Lucie Regional Juvenile Detention Center.Top Headlines:

Officials said Martin County officers arrested the minor on an outstanding warrant from the Port St. Lucie Police Department for aggravated assault with a firearm and aggravated assault with a firearm.

The shooting occurred on May 24 at the Tradition Parking Garage on Southwest Stephanie Way.

When Port St. Lucie police arrived at the scene, they saw no witnesses, victims, or evidence of the shooting.

During their investigation, detectives came across a video showing a group of minors fighting on the roof of the parking garage. The video shows the suspect jumping away from the fighting crowd, extending his right arm and grabbing something. Then a gunshot is heard.

The victim was also seen in the group.

A few hours after the shooting, the 16-year-old victim was taken to Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce with a gunshot wound to the foot. Detectives from the PSLPD Major Crimes Unit arrived and determined that the victim had been shot during the fight.

Police say the firearm used was not found.

The suspect was arrested in October 2022 after a concealed firearm was discovered on him at Treasure Coast High School.

The teenager is currently in the St. Lucie Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
