GBI arrests Sylvania man in child abuse investigation

SCREVEN COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – A Sylvania man has been arrested and faces several charges.

According to the GBI, 26-year-old James Ryan Burkes is accused of child abuse, sexual abuse of a child under 16 and assault.

The GBI was asked by the Screven County Sheriff’s Office on February 21 to investigate allegations of child abuse against Burkes.

After investigation, it turns out that Burkes had inappropriate sexual contact with a minor in Screven County.

He was taken to the Screven County Jail.

This investigation is active and ongoing.
