Driver arrested after crashing his vehicle into a Lauderhill store

LAUDERHILL, Florida. – A driver was arrested Tuesday night after driving his car into the front of a Lauderhill business, authorities confirmed.

The accident was reported at 1249 NW 31st Ave.

According to Lauderhill Police Lt. Antonio Gonzalez, the driver, 51-year-old Alreegus D. Holmes, was arrested for drunken driving.

Jail records show he is also charged with driving without a license and possessing an open container while driving.

Gonzalez said Holmes was drunk when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the store.

Lauderhill Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Levy said no injuries were reported, but there was significant structural damage to the company.

Further details were not initially announced.

As of Wednesday morning, Holmes was still being held at the Broward County Main Jail, where his bail had not yet been set.
