New space for teens opens at Buffalo Central Library

A new space for teens is now open at the Buffalo Central Library.

The $465,000 project will not only provide space to study and connect, but also a range of programs for students.

“If you haven’t visited the Downtown Central Library in a while, now is the time,” Buffalo and Erie County Public Library Director John Spears said in a statement. “We have heard from our customers and the local community what they want to see in this building, and we have undertaken a series of improvements that will help meet those needs.

“From a brand new teen space to a more comfortable and inviting children’s room, these improvements will provide a variety of welcoming spaces for those who visit us.” Users of all ages deserve a library that reflects their unique wants and needs. With the financial assistance offered by the County Executive and Legislature, we are proud to say that we are on track to achieve this goal.

Library officials say that on a given day they may have 200 teenagers in the library after school.
