Ogdensburg man convicted of sexually abusing a physically helpless child and adult | St. Lawrence County News

Shaver has been tried twice in the city of Massena. The first case occurred in July 2018, when he sexually abused an adult who was physically helpless at the time. On a second occasion in the summer of 2019, he abused a 9-year-old child and an adult who was physically helpless at the time, according to St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary M. Pasqua.

Shaver’s sentencing is scheduled for August 5. He faces up to 21 years in prison.

“Perpetrators of sexual assault rely on fear and shame to silence their victims,” ​​Pasqua said in a statement about the sentencing. “I admire the courage of the victims in this case to come forward. My law firm will continue to fight for justice for victims of sexual assault and I hope this verdict inspires other victims to come forward.”

Assistant District Attorneys Joshua Haberkornhalm and Matthew Peabody prosecuted the case. The New York State Police investigated the case.
