Papillion plans expansion of police station to meet growing needs of department

The Papillion City Council has approved the police department expansion project. The police department is currently located at East 1st Street and American Parkway. It was built in 2005 and employs 49 officers and six civilian employees. A 2023 study made several recommendations to meet the police department’s needs over the next 15 years. These included establishing a dedicated work area for the police dogs and a mother’s room, expanding the parking lot and building a stand-alone garage for evidence storage. The total projected budget for the project is $9 million. The city plans to pay about half of that from cash reserves and the rest with a bond of up to $4.5 million. The approved resolution allows Carlson West Povondra Architects to handle the design and construction of the project. Click here for the latest headlines from KETV NewsWatch 7
